Preliminary Information on the 1st WCSA Open European Target Crossbow Championships
The Portuguese Bowmen and Crossbowmen Federation will hold the 1st WCSA Open European Target Crossbow Championships in September 2004, from the 18th to the 26th.
The competition will take place near Tavira, Algarve, Portugal in a resort called Pedras d'el Rei (this means King's Stones), 28 kms east of Faro Airport.
This early information is provided to help you with planning your holidays. Further details are expected in February 2004.

All
States in Australia are currently amending their legislation
concerning crossbows. Check out the Crossbow Australia website for

website for the National Crossbowmen of the
USA
After
a period without having a web presence, the National Crossbowmen of
the USA have a new website www.crossbowusa.com.
It is hoped that the site will continue to bring new members into the
sport.

Thanks
to the excellent work of Dave Delaurant from the US, we have some
very interesting extracts from some early books written on archery
and crossbows. These writings are now in the public domaine and make
great reading.

Armborst Unionen
It
is with great pleasure that we formally welcome the Svenska Armborst
Unionen as members of WCSA following their meeting in Gothenburg.
Peter Laggren is the Secretary of SAU. Contact details are available

Dual
Membership
We
welcome the decision by the IAU to allow member nations to have dual
membership of both WCSA and IAU. This should allow all arbalists the
opportunity to participate fully in the sport they love and to enjoy
the fun and friendship gained when competing with each other.

It is with great regret that I advise the death of Peter Michel,
immediate past Manager of the Deutscher Schützenbund e.V. Peter
was a great friend of the crossbow sport and will be greatly
missed.
1st WSCA Open Postal Competition - INDOOR 18 meters
The Portuguese Bowmen and Crossbowmen Federation invites all target (WCSA) and field (IAU) crossbowmen to participate in this competition to run from next October through December 2003.
The competition will be decided on the accumulated scores of 3 (three) rounds shot in accordance with WCSA - World Crossbow Shooting Association rules for Indoor Target Crossbow Tournaments.

Next WCSA World Championships
We are pleased to announce that Crossbow Australia will host the 2nd WCSA Open World Outdoor Target Championships. This event will be held in the tropical city of Townsville in North Queensland in July 2005. Townsville is close to the famous Great Barrier Reef, so start planning your holiday now!
It is now anticipated that the National Crossbowmen of the USA will host the 3rd WCSA Open World Outdoor Target Championships in 2005.

We welcome the Czech Republic and the Estonia Crossbow Union as new members of WSCA.
We regret to advise that Henrique Godhino has had to resign as 2nd Vice President of WCSA due to health reasons. We sincerely thank him for his welcome contribution to our organisation.

A summary of the RESULTS for the 1st WCSA Open World Target Championship held in Lilleshall, England, 12-20 July 2003 are now available together with some pictures.
We are pleased to formally welcome the Mongolian Crossbow Federation and the Finnish Crossbow Union as member federations. We now have 10 financial national members with more in the process of joining.

50 shooters from 9 countries have entered. Nations represented so far are Australia, Estonia, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal, Sweden and the USA.

crossbow shooting organisation in Australia - The Australian
Crossbow Shooting Association Inc, trading as Crossbow Australia has
been established. The primary purpose of Crossbow Australia is to
provide a voice for all crossbow shooters but particularly the many
thousands who are lone crossbow hunters. Crossbow Australia is

FORMATION of WORLD CROSSBOW SHOOTING ASSOCIATION
I am delighted to announce that the World Crossbow Shooting Association (WCSA) was inaugurated on 10 January 2003, when delegates from six countries met in Cambridge, New Zealand. This is a major achievement in a very short time.
WCSA foundation members are Archery New Zealand Inc., Archery Australia Inc., Canadian Crossbow Federation (in formation), National Crossbow Federation of Great Britain (NCFGB), Federação Dos Arqueiros e. Besteiros de Portugal (FABP), and the National Crossbowmen of the USA.
